The Basics.

One of the most asked questions we get at the shop is “how do I brew loose leaf tea?”

We aim to make drinking high quality loose leaf tea accessible to any one that wants it. No, you don’t need fancy equipment or a special hot water dispenser. All it takes is approximately 1 tsp of loose leaf tea per cup (6-8oz) of water, and a few moments to sit, reflect, and wait for your tea to do it’s thing. Just kidding; the quiet reflection is not a requirement, but an unexpected gift nevertheless. Anyways, from there, the world is your oyster.

There are certainly ideal conditions to get the best representation of the tea. You need some type of infuser (we will get to some options at another time!) and It is best to use fresh, filtered water. Depending on the type of tea, your steep time will vary, as well as your optimal water temperature. See below for a general breakdown.
